Ribn is a MIDI controller featuring 8 assignable ribbons that offer a unique capability of recording and looping finger movement. This functionality allows users to infuse organic repeating modulation into their synths and effects akin to intricate LFOs. Each ribbon can be customized with a unique MIDI channel and CC#, making it versatile for controlling a range of MIDI-compatible gear.

HOW IT WORKS:

• Connect MIDI gear (e.g., synth) to iOS device through a MIDI interface (wired or Bluetooth)</l>
• Select the MIDI interface within Ribn's settings page upon launching the app</l>
• Determine the relevant CC# and MIDI channel for your gear and input this data into Ribn's edit view</l>
• Slide fingers on ribbons to send CC values and manage parameters on the connected MIDI device</l>

WHAT IS MIDI AND CC?

• MIDI serves as the language through which electronic musical instruments communicate<l>
• CC (Continuous Controller) is a method for parameter control using MIDI signals. For instance, controlling a synth's filter cutoff frequency via a MIDI CC signal<l>

NOTE:

• Ribn functions solely as a MIDI controller and does not generate sound<l>
• To use Ribn effectively, connection to a device capable of responding to MIDI CC signals is required<l>
• Ribn transmits only CC signals, not note data, enabling control over parameters like synthesizer filters or effects settings<l>
• To interface with MIDI gear, purchase of a dedicated MIDI interface is necessary. These interfaces typically link to the iOS lightning port and furnish standard MIDI DIN ports for connecting hardware. Bluetooth options are available for wireless connections. Alternatively, Wi-Fi connection to a Mac permits control over software synths.
